home sweet home

Hi everyone,
Matt and I had a GREAT time in Oregon, and boy it's been hard to get back on schedule! We flew in Tuesday night, leaving Portland OR at 9:30 PM after driving 2 hours from beautiful Newport to the airport. Our flight left on time, and was 5 long hours. Thankfully it was a night flight, so they turned all the lights off and there was none of that airplane small talk that strangers seem to feel obligated to do while traveling. They played 2 movies, which is the only way I know I slept at all. First they played Get Smart. I love Steve Carell, so I begged Matt for a dollar to buy the disposable headphones they were selling, since I already promised the guy sitting on the aisle seat to my left that I wouldn't get up the whole flight (and I actually didn't!) and my headphones were packed away with our laptop in the overhead compartment. Matt said no, since I should sleep, and I knew he was right, but I couldn't fall asleep so I proceeded to watch the movie anyway and make up my own story. Did anyone see it? I really don't know if it was any good. So the next movie was Space Chimps. I didn't see much of Space Chimps, so I believe I may have slept for about 90 minutes, since that's probably the longest a kids movie could possibly last... I was awake on and off for the end of the flight when they were playing tv reruns. It was hard to sleep and the plane was bumpy. By the way! I am conquering my fear of flying by learning about flight! I learned that pilots learn to fly with only some or even none of the engines, and they can even land the plane safely with none of the engines working, since they can fly on wind currents! I had no idea. So I keep reminding myself during the takeoff and landing about all the things I learned about flight and I'm alot better now, ask Matt, no nail marks on his hands this time :)
OK so our plane landed at about 5:30 AM and it is now Wednesday, though to us it feels like a very late 2:30 AM on tues nite still... ugh. Then we had to find our luggage and then our car which we never wrote down where we parked! Thanks to some quick prayers, Matt found the car on the first try with no wasted steps, so we were on our way home from Newark, about a 1 1/2 hour drive. Then after a HOT much needed shower at home, and a 10 minute power nap I headed to work to do payroll. I worked until about 2 o'clock when I could no longer think and I was at the point of total ridiculum. So I headed home and basically slept from about 3 pm until 7 am today. Today was alot more productive at work, and a little productive when I got home. I managed to unpack one of my suitcases, I did 2 loads of laundry, and I made a schedule for Rachel's Thread through Dec 4th. There are a lot of fun things coming up! More about that later.
Please come see me here:

By the way, don't use your cell phone while you drive. I got pulled over for that yesterday. Just got a warning, but still, it was enough to make me stop.

this is where I've been

beautiful Newport Oregon. It's been amazing so far, and such a great way to get away and clear my head. I do miss all my family and friends to pieces, but other than that, it has been just about perfect. I hope to add the rest of the pictures to the web album before we leave, so check back if you'd like <3

dreamnite

Last night was a night of all-night wacky dreaming. Here is what I remember. Ingrid and I were getting together to work on a project. It wasn't the first time we were working on this project because I was fiddling with her measuring tape and broke it, and I told her now I owed her a new measuring tape and a new something else. We found Leigh outside in her trailer. She had bought a trailer I guess to carry around her art, and the outside of the trailer had art printed on it as well. It was really hard to jump up into the trailer, but once I did I realized, wow - it's also a refrigerator. What a great idea, since then your food will stay cold and you won't need to buy a fridge. Another part of the dream night I remember is from high school. I know I wasn't walking around naked, but there was definitely something I was unprepared for, like couldn't get to my locker in time, or couldn't write everything down fast enough. I know this is one of those standard dreams everyone has, so it almost feels stupid to even write it in here, but there it is, i dream the dreams normal people do too, woo hoo. The next thing I can remember is being at a party. It might have been a party for my little sister, since she was definitely there. Some other family members were there. I was making something with my little brother. Oh yeah, and basically the backdrop of all the dreams was all the things I am wanting to make, they are popping up everywhere. The next dream I had was a work dream. Somehow I was outside several blocks from the building, and they needed to get this string, or wire? over to the side of our building to thread it under the building. I'm not sure if they didn't know how to get there or whatever, but they wanted one of us to hold the one end of the string until we got there. I was the first pick for holding the string, but I was in my pajamas, and I THINK on my bike. They ended up picking someone else, I think Auntie Tricia, who was in a convertible. She doesn't work there, but also had already changed out of her pajamas. So we ended up at the back corner of the building, and we were able to thread the wire or string under the building, and they told us someone would have to crawl under there and get it to the other side, and then I was chosen again, but this time they did want me to do it cause I was in my pajamas. I have no recollection of doing it. The next and final part of the dream I remember, just barely, is being outside and this high school aged kid was hanging out in the back of this trailer or truck. All I remember is at the end of the day he thanked me for getting things set up for him. In fact, he may have been an older guy, with a teenage spirit. I remembered more about this dream RIGHT after I woke up, so maybe it will come to me later. The guy was really skinny. I asked him what his parents would think if they knew he was out there, I guess alone living in this trailer, and he didn't answer me. So that's the end of my dreamnite. I'd like to thank the Turkey/Swiss shortie from Wawa that I ate at 10:00.

Make a Statement!

I've been in the midst of a BUSY 2 weeks, but I don't want to neglect my blog, so here I am! Some exciting things are on the horizon, including: the debut of my Sock Scarves at Studio 27.28 this Saturday night...... Brand new patched purses and mini's at Underground this weekend during Octoberfest...... And a new home for Rachel's Thread scarves at Hair Culture in Galloway, NJ in the next few weeks!

Over the next 28 hours I will be busy finishing off some purses, making some mini's, designing some dressy and sock scarves, and straightening up my sewing room. It's exciting and FUN, but my regular job is definitely getting in the way right now :D

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Check out my new "Upcoming Events" section on the right side ------>>>

Have a good Thursday <3
