Hey everyone. Tomorrow is Mayfest in Smithville, NJ.
I will be at Underground's table with a $1 sale of all kinds of Underground goodies and also a bunch of scarves, and Rachel's Thread goodies and surprises. Smithville Village is located at 615 E Moss Mill Road, which is the intersection of Rt 9 and Moss Mill Road.
I just checked weather.com and it is supposed to be rainy in the morning, so sleep in, and then come out at about 1 pm when it is supposed to become "mostly cloudy".
I am making lots of little things, so even if you just bring $10 you should be able to go home with something one of a kind that you will love.
see some of you tomorrow.

Events and New Things
I am having a REALLY hard time keeping up with all the social networking sites. So hopefully I can post this here, with links from everywhere else and word can travel that way. If someone knows an easier way to get the word out there to all my (very few) followers, please let me know. I do not own an i-phone, nor do I have internet on my phone, so it's all just the old fashioned computer and laptop for me.

Here is what you need to know.
A. I will be doing the Spring Fair at Lankenau Hospital this Friday May 8th. A great place to pick up a mother's day gift from Rachel's Thread or one of the other neato vendors. Lankenau Hospital is in the Philly area. $10 for every scarf purchased at the Spring Fair will be donated to "Miles of Smiles" toward building an orphanage in Uganda in my Dad's name.
B. I will also be working at Underground's booth at Mayfest next Sunday May 17th. I'll have some awesome new things available at the Underground Booth, some up-cycled and vintage scarves, upcycled pockets, .... cell phone holders ... possibly a beach bag or two ... and possibly some men's ties. Come early for the best selection. Smithville Village - about 15 mins from Atlantic City.
C. I have an etsy store. For any scarf purchase made through May 8th, $10 will be donated to "Miles of Smiles".
D. I am only working Part Time now! I am now off two complete days during the week, which means more new products, bigger selection, etc etc etc. Thank you to everyone at my 'day job' for making this possible.
E. I'm now using 100% recycled bags for my products.
F. My new favorite animal is the Alpaca. Google it if you've never heard the sound they make. It is the most awesome noise. I want to make it my ringtone, so if anyone can help with that you'd be a Rachel's Thread hero.

Practical Joke, Hate Crime, or Strange Coincidence?

Last evening after returning from CVS to buy medicine for Matt (yes he's sick Again!), I found the above pictured 1/2 sock on my front lawn. This sock is not my sock, and not a sock owned by Rachel's Thread, and I'd never seen it before in my life. It was only the top (ankle) part of the sock, and the other half looks like it was cut off with scissors... as if someone was preparing this top to be used in a sock scarf. I have no idea where it came from... or what it means ... or what to do with it. It is currently sitting on a chair on our front porch. Once it is thoroughly rain-washed, I plan to bring it inside and wash it in HOT water. Then what? No idea. This is the strangest thing that has ever happened to Rachel's Thread.

Spring Cleaning
Wow. It's been almost a month since my last blog post... Sorry about that :\
Tonight I'm cleaning out my closet. Really just reorganizing, since it's hard for me to part with most things, like the dress I wore to my high school graduation, and things like that. I was able to put aside about 20 things for goodwill, and about 4 or 5 for Up-cycling, and the rest is now being squeezed back into my side of the closet. Our closet is a semi walk-in closet. Matt and I share the closet equally, and we share all the dresser drawers equally. I suppose that is fair, since although I own alot MORE clothes than him, each item takes up about 1/2 the space.
Matt went to the dr today and he has bronchitis! Poor guy. I made him some grilled cheese and now he's sleeping on the couch. I'm trying to wash my hands more than usual. I would rather not catch it, and alot of times I don't get sick when he's sick, which is a nice little immunity I've developed. Still I'll inevitably be around his germs since we sleep in the same bed, so we'll see what happens.
So back to the closet. I found a dollar in a pair of pants. Yay! But I'm pretty sad because even after all this cleaning, my favorite pink Steel Train shirt is missing. I always wear that shirt when we go to the beach, so my only hope is maybe it's in our beach bag. Basically the last thing to put away is all kinds of exercise clothes, which I never wear. I will reluctantly keep them under the assumption that someday I will become one of those people who goes to the gym. (I never will).
Did I mention I should be working on scarves? We're planning a scarf party in Michigan with our friends Bill and Rebecca who we will be visiting this weekend. I truly do work BEST at the last minute. At least I did have a productive procrastination night.
Back to work.
ps. here is something else I do when I am procrastinating:

Nothing But Monday
It occurred to me yesterday that I have been taking an unplanned, unintentional and unannounced break from Rachel's Thread. If you placed an order in the last few weeks (besides Xmas orders), or emailed me about something, please FORGIVE me :) I should be back on track this week!
In other news, the next Punk Rock Scarf Party is set for February 8th at Underground in Smithville, NJ. Who is coming??? Last time everyone who came out was entered to win a free scarf, and anyone who didn't win got an awesome consolation prize, which in many cases was a cool pair of socks! I'll probably do the same thing again, but I'm not exactly sure, so there may be some surprises.
Completely un-related, but my hubby Matt is getting ready to start up his resume writing business, 5 Star Resumes. He has years of experience working for the department of labor, and he can write a pretty great resume. If anyone out there is looking for that, here is his email matchorno@comcast.net . I suppose once he gets things up and running he will get something @ 5starrsumes.com, but anyway.
On the subject of websites, I've been working on a new website, and though it's still under construction, I thought it would be ok to give everyone a preview: coachlewis.org
OK. That is all for now.
Have a great Monday <3 Rachel

First things first...
I'm getting ready to design some sock scarves, so I thought I'd ask everyone a sock-related question.
What do you put on first, your pants or your socks?
This should be an easy one.... Just curious.
